About this coloring page

A big maple leaf with pointy edges smiles from the middle of the page. Only a few large sections make it an easy fall page for the youngest colorers.

A maple leaf has lines called veins that carry water through it, a bit like tiny pipes. Point to the veins on this leaf and follow them from the stem out to the tips. Younger kids can color the whole leaf in one shade. Older kids might give each section between the veins its own color, making a patchwork of autumn.

Fun fact

Leaves turn yellow and orange in fall when they stop making the green chlorophyll that hides those colors.

  • Color ideaBlend red, orange and yellow across the leaf so it looks like real fall color.
  • After coloringCollect a real leaf outside and place it next to your page.
