About this coloring page
Wings spread wide, a cheerful pterodactyl swoops across the page with its beak open in a grin. There are just a few roomy shapes, so it is one of the simplest pictures in the set.
Some pterosaurs were as small as a sparrow, while the biggest had wings about as wide as a small airplane's. Stretch your arms out wide and measure your child's own wingspan with a piece of string. The head crest and beak are small shapes for a fine pencil, and the two big wings fill quickly with crayon.
Fun factPterosaurs like Pterodactylus were flying reptiles, not dinosaurs, and their wings were skin stretched along one very long finger.
- Color ideaPaint the wings in a sunset blend, orange near the body fading to pink at the tips.
- After coloringFlap your arms like wings and glide around the room.
