About this coloring page
This wooden catapult has a cheerful face, sturdy wheels and a round stone ready in its arm. Its many crossbeams are great practice for straight lines, and older kids will like the challenge.
A catapult's arm works like a lever, a long bar that tips around one point. A seesaw is a lever too: push one end down and the other end goes up. Try it gently with a ruler balanced on a pencil and a pom-pom on one end. The wooden beams are good practice for coloring along straight edges.
Fun factLong ago, catapults were machines used to fling heavy stones through the air toward castle walls.
- Color ideaUse light and dark browns for the wooden beams so they look like real wood, and gray for the stone.
- After coloringUse a spoon to gently launch a cotton ball and see how far it flies.
