About this coloring page

A baby dragon pokes its head and wings out of a cracked, spotted egg. Spots on the shell and scales on the belly create plenty of small shapes for older kids.

Dragons are only pretend, but plenty of real animals hatch from eggs, including birds, turtles, snakes, crocodiles and even the platypus. Many baby birds and reptiles have a tiny bump on their beak or snout, called an egg tooth, that helps them crack the shell. The round spots on this egg are great practice for coloring small circles.

  • Color ideaColor the egg pale lavender with teal spots and make the baby dragon lime green with yellow wings.
  • ImagineImagine the baby dragon's first day out of the egg and act out its first steps.
