About this coloring page
Two drumsticks are raised above this smiling drum, ready to beat out a festival rhythm. The crisscross ropes on its side add plenty of detail.
Drums lead parades and festivals in many places, from lion dances at Lunar New Year to dhol drumming at Vaisakhi. Clap a simple beat together, loud-soft-soft, loud-soft-soft, and let your child keep the rhythm while coloring. The crisscross ropes make small triangles on the drum's side, which are great practice for careful coloring with a sharp pencil.
Fun factDrums are among the oldest musical instruments people have made.
- Color ideaColor the drum red and gold with a cream drumhead and brown sticks.
- After coloringTap a beat on a box or pot and march in a pretend parade.
